Working Toward Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
We are committed to finding ways to be better stewards of our planet. The mission of the Green Team is to find ways that we as a church can reduce our impact on the environment and to educate one another to create a larger impact.
This fall, thanks to the spirit and work of our volunteers, we have switched from plastic cutlery and paper plates to washable china cups and flatware for coffee time following Service. Using our new home style dishwasher curbs water usage and reduces the cleanup labor. Our waste stream has reduced significantly.
Next goals would involve dividing our waste stream into those most of us are familiar with at home: trash, recycling, and compostables. We are also working toward sending other hard to recycle items such as plastic film, batteries, light bulbs and fabric to Ridwell who partners with companies that recycles them or responsibility disposes of them.
