I never imagined the widow in this story being young with children, as the picture portrays. I have to think about that for another time.
What I thought about this week was how like this widow's action was to Jesus' actions during Holy Week - he too gave all that he had.
I guess the children in the picture got me thinking about the promise we, as a congregation, make when a person is baptized in our church - that comes about as close as I can think of to being faithful to giving it all today. I think I'll have the congregation read it again in light of this story.
So what does it mean to me? In the words of one of my friend's tags on her personal email "Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, "O crap, she's up."
